Brown (Women's)
Brown (Women's)
The Seal Brown trimmed Women’s Ivy Oxford.
The distinguished color for the Ivy that sits atop College Hill, Brown University, founded in 1764.
The Seal Brown trimmed Ivy Oxford, made for late-night study sessions, socializing on the quad, grabbing a bite around College Hill or cheering on the Bears at Brown Stadium. Engineered to be proudly worn until threadbare.
Origins of Color
The College Color, brown, the obvious choice as it would appear today, was not adopted until after 1866, when the Brown Paper reported on the question of choosing a college color, “the general opinion seems to be that brown should be adopted ... Nothing could be more appropriate for Brown-bred boys ... It is the very mark of hardihood, of pluck, of soberness – if you will – but of victory.” (Source: brown.edu)
